"Our trip was a whirlwind and there is so much more of Montreal I would love to see. However, if you only have a short stopover, it's totally worth getting out and seeing this beautiful city. You won't be disappointed." TaviaRead More
"One question I always get when people ask me about traveling is "How do you afford it?" Well, let me be really honest with you: WE. ARE. NOT. RICH. We do not have sponsorships. (Although I wouldn't turn them down ;) -- HINT HINT AIRBNB) WE PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ALL OF OUR LEISURE TRAVEL. We are a military family with two kids living off of ONE paycheck. The only answer I can think of is: Priority. We prioritize traveling. We don't do huge home improvement projects, drive fancy cars, live in huge house, etc. We put our money where our interests are: travel. Here are 8 ways we are able to afford traveling more than once a year:"
"We decided, this particular morning, to go to Harpers Ferry over going to Gettysburg. It was a last minute decision and I wasn't convinced it would even be worth the visit. My step-dad described it to me as "a historical park with a city on a hill" -- and now we all know he is the WORST ever at describing awesome places. Our time at Harpers Ferry was better than I could have ever hoped. So much history, unbeatable nature & the weather could not have been more pleasant."
"...I was pretty thrilled with myself because I knew I would have time to get seats and get situated and all Jimmy would have to do is get on the train and give us food!! PERFECT!! We board the train. (<-- WORST decision we make all day) My parent’s grab a table and the 4 seats and take Charletta with them. I am battling bicyclists to get our giant double stroller on the train. After they finally get their bikes loaded and I get the stroller situated the door to the train closes and the train starts moving. IT. STARTS. DRIVING. AWAY....."
"I can not believe it's been a year since our time in Montgomery. They say the days are long, but the years are short and this year went by in the blink of an eye. While this trip happened a while back, it is worth it for me to share my experiences because they were so positive and we really did have such a good time."

"In May we took 2 weeks vacation and flew the crew to the States! The task was daunting. Packing, traveling, arranging transportation for all of us (aka 4 kids 2 and under) was unnerving. BUT, we did it! We survived, and now two weeks later I think I can revisit the subject"
"With a very transient trip, I tried to plan out our travel days before we even left the United States. What I found is that you can’t always book train tickets in advance for European travel and I also learned that there are many ways to book European train tickets and it all depends on what country/region you are traveling to/from. I spent a lot of time researching the most effective, most comfortable, and cheapest way to get from city to city. We knew we would be carrying all of our bags plus a stroller and our baby, so we needed to be ready to pack light and move efficiently.
Flights can be compared to running a marathon; there are water stations for a reason. Grab a sip of water, mentally regroup, and possibly walk instead of run for 100 feet. It is essential for runners to have small ways to recharge and continue on. Layovers are my travel day water stations.Read More
